Govert vertrok dus op 29 november 1723 als matroos op de Bentveld naar Oost-Indië. De reis was vast geen pretje. Al in Portsmouth lopen er mensen weg. Govert sterft in Azië en hij is de enige niet. De Bentveld blijft in Azië tot ze daar uiteindelijk wordt opgelegd.
