Notes about Sietske Aardema

Sietske Aardema is na de geboorte van haar derde kind (Harm) nov 1926 in een po
st natale depressie geraakt, in die tijd kwam er een zendeling het geloof verkon
digen. Sietske was toen 24 jaar en ging daarover nadenken, dit heeft haar verwar
ring versterkt. na enige mislukte zelfmoordpogingen ging zij midden op de weg st
aan voor een toen zeer schaars voorkomende rijdende auto. Deze auto werdt bestuu
rd door een arts, deze heeft ervoor gezorgd dat Sietske in Wolfheze behandeld we
rd. Na een op name in Zuidlaren is zij is tenslotte opgenomen in het psychiatris
ch ziekenhuis te Franeker. Daar is zij in geestelijke verwarring en gebrek aan v
oeding, het was (mei 1946) na de tweede wereldoorlog gestorven. Foppe bleef met
drie kinderen in een op het droge getrokken ark achter, hij is niet hertrouwd.
