Arie Klootwijk werkte op het watergemaal dat naast de woning stond, alsmachinist en opzichter. Zijn baas, rentmeester I. Overwater, schreef op 14 maart 1953 een briefje aan het gemeentebestuur van Dubbeldam. Het zal u niet onbekend zijn, deelde hij daarin mee, dat in de Nieuwe Beerpolder een huis verwoest is. Daarmee bedoelde hij het onderkomen van de familie Klootwijk. Overwater berichtte dat het de bedoeling is aldaar 1woning te herbouwen. Hij zou het zeer op prijs stellen als de gemeentedaaraan zou meewerken. Op 9 april kreeg Overwater bericht van B en W dat een plan tot herbouw kan worden ingediend.
