Catharina Josephina Huiskens, de tante van Gerardus Hubertus Huiskens, is de eerste Huiskens die in Schiedam gaat wonen. Haar man Antonius Cornelis Tewe is daar geboren. Hun huwelijk wordt gesloten in Roermond, maar de meeste kinderen worden geboren in Schiedam.
In 1884 trouwt in Schiedam Gerardus Hubertus Huiskens, de zoon van haar broer Nicolaas Hubertus Huiskens, met de Schiedamse Alida Hartmann. Waarschijnlijk verbleef Gerardus Hubertus Huiskens af en toe bij zijn tante in Schiedam en heeft hij daardoor Alida Hartmann leren kennen.
