Dit is het overlijdingsbericht van mijn oma Niza Versendaal-Hooghwerff en dit is het verhaal wat er bij hoort : 6 November 1944 woonden mijn opa en oma in de Schenkeldijk ('s-Gravendeel) ..Die bewuste dag wordt er volop geschoten...De Engelsen schieten, vanuit een al bevrijd Brabant, naar de Duitse soldaten, die in de boomgaard van Denis Molendijk liggen...Opa en oma wilden weg uit het gevaar en verlieten hun huis...dan raakt een verdwaalde granaatscherf (afgevuurd door de Engelsen) mijn oma door haar schouder recht in het hart...Oma is op slag dood...Haar stoffelijk overschot wordt op een handkar achter de fiets door twee ooms naar haar dochter Anna van der Maas gebracht...Vanuit daar is ze begraven op de begraafplaats in Strijen....
