Notes about Jacob STUURSTRAAT

Jacob Stuurstraat was van 1922 tot 1927 bloemist en werkte vervolgens als vrachtwagenchauffeur en als buschauffeur.
Jacob heeft samen met zijn broer Bertus in 1922 voor 7.000 gulden de bloemisterij van hun vader overgenomen. Jacob ging in het woonhuis bij de zaak wonen aan de Frisostraat 5. Na een paar jaar bleek dat het niet mogelijk was om met deze bloemisterij twee gezinnen te onderhouden, daarom trok Jacob zich in 1927 terug en ging voor zichzelf beginnen als vrachtrijder. Jacob verhuisde met zijn gezin naar het achterhuis van de woning van zijn ouders aan de Strijenseweg 105. Later ging hij met zijn vrouw in het voorhuis wonen en verhuisden zijn ouders naar het achterhuis.
Jacob kocht in 1928 voor 2.500 gulden de grootste vrachtwagen van 's-Gravendeel. In de twintiger jaren ging hij met zijn broer Nico met de vrachtwagen naar Spanje om daar naar het stierenvechten te kijken.
