Volgens onbevestigde berichten is Jarig Sjoerds geboren op 5-2-1715.
Hij was boer op Sandfirderryp stem 13, waar in 1698 Rienk Hoytes boer was (eigendom oom Hisse Jenties, zie 200-II)
pake Harm en beppe Marijke waren van 1898 tot 1917 boer op de naastliggende boerderij.

Jarig sjoerds heeft in 1790 111 pondemaat land van verschillende eigenaren, verdeeld over Sandfirden, Oudega en Greonterp in gebruik. Hij staat nog op de speciecohieren van 1796 van sandfirden, terwijl hij al in 1793 is overleden.
Zijn weduwe Akke Rients heeft dus de boerderij voortgezet.
In de speciecohieren staat dat er 2 schoorstenen, 6 hoofden (arbeidskrachten), 23 koeien, 8 rieren en 5 paarden zijn. Een behoorlijke boerderij voor die tijd. Behalve Akke en haar 4 kinderen (sjiuwke was al getrouwd) was er vermoedelijk ook nog een ingehuurde arbeider/bedrijfsleider op de boerderij aanwezig. Sjoerd en Rients waren immers nog maar 14 en 11 jaar toen hun vader overleed.
In de Reelcohieren (1790) is de huurwaarde van de boerderij 370 gulden. Daarover moest 66 gulden, 5 stuivers en 6 cent belasting worden betaald.
