Notes about Pieter van der Bijl

Pieter III heeft de boerderijen Vijffonteinen en een deel van Alles Verloren van zijn vader in 1792 geerfd. en toen hij omstreeks 1800 in de ouderdom van amper 40 jaar overleden is, had hij alleen nog twee dochters, toen 8 en 6 jaar oud. Zodoende stierf deze tak Van der Bijl uit. Na Pieter's dood trouwde zijn weduwe Anna op 16-10-1803 met Marthinus Smuts (1779-1845), een man die 13 jaar jonger was dan zij. Na Anna's dood trouwde Marthinus weer (10-2-1811) met Maria Magdalena Loedolph (*1793). Zij was weer 13 jaar jonger dan hij en ze was een dochter van de zuster van Pieter III Maria Magdalena van der Bijl (vdB-1765-01-15). Michiel Smuts, een zoon uit dit huwelijk, heeft in 1849 het deel van Alles Verloren van zijn weduwe moeder geerfd. Bron: Van der Bijl - Geslagsregister 1667-1967]
