Cornelis Jacobsz Varkevisser, meesterscheepmaker te Katwijk aan Zee, verklaart in 1795 te hebben gemaakt voor rekening van Johannes Christoffel Cankrinus een bomschuit genaamd de "Hoffnung", lang 34 voet, wijd ca. 19 voet en diep 7 voet.
Ook op 24-02-1804 legt hij een soortgelijke verklaring af.
