Johan Dibbets, oudste zoon van Henricus Dibbetz en diens eerste vrouw Cornelia van Beverwijck, werd geboren den 27sten Junij 1685 te Philippine, alwaar zijn vader toen nog predikant was.
Hij klom op tot kolonel van een regiment infanterie en was Groot-Majoor in Sluis in Vlaanderen en onderhoorige forten.
De tijd van zijn overlijdenis onbekend. Hij was gehuwd met Margaretha Ris van Enkhuizen, die hem acht kinderen schonk.
Hij is de schrijver van:
Korte schets van vuurgeving met plotons en kort alphabetisch extract uit de groote placaatboeken, met platen, 's Hage 1733. 8. met 2 deelen.
