    -- In het Leidsch Dagblad staat het volgende beschreven: Vrijdagmorgen (3-10-1884) had te Ter Aar een treurig voorval plaats. Zeker vrouwe (red.: Maria Hennekes) Van der Hoorn verdronk in den vroegenmorgen vlak voor hare woning. Vermoedelijk is zij bij het spoelen voorover-gevallen. Toen hare dochter haar vond, was zij reeds een lijk (bron: Leidsch Dagblad, 6 oktober 1884, pagina 1).
