1198 Aan den H. Quintijn de Veer, heere in Kalendsooghe, Baljuw van den Haaghe.
Mijn' Heere ende Neeve,
'T is mijn lot, zoo 't schijnt, U.Ed. altemets eens te moeten aan-
moeijen. Mijn schout tot Mujde, heeft, ujt mijnen laste, aldaar aan
rechte gevordert eenen Paapschen huisman, oover 't bedrijven van
zeekre dartelheit ende moedwil, in de kerke tot Abkoude, onder de
predikatie, met oopenbaarlijk roepen, Domine couzijntjen, ik
breng UEen pijntjen. Schepenen van Mujde hebben hem een'
boete van 400 gl afgelejt. Daarop heeft hij, naadat de tijdt om
mandament van appel te lichten, al verstreeken was, mijnen schout
(hoewel de zaak ten principale mij raakt) voor 't Hof doen dagh-
vaarden, teeghens den xjen Aprilis. D' Adt Mr Willem de Groot
en de Pr De Rooder zullen den dagh waarneemen, ende verzoeken
namptissement der boete onder borghtoght, volghends d'Instructie
van den Hoove, daar zij spreekt van boeten van officieren. U. Ed.
weet van hoe schaadelijken gevolghe het zijn zoude, voor mij ende
allen lujden van onzer soorte, zoo het namptissement ontzeidt
wierde, zulx men met het gewoonlijk sleepen der processen moeste
gequelt zijn. Dies is mijn vruntl [...] verzoek, dat U. Eed. gelieve,
mijn' Heer ende Neef Sixti, neevens weldienstighe gebiedenis, ujt
mijnen naame, te bidden, dat zijn' Ed. zich gewaardighe de goede
handt aan deeze zaake te houden, zulx op het belang derzelve
rijpelijk mooghe gelet, en 't namptissement verworven worden:
't welk, naar 't oordeel van mijnen schoonbroeder Cloek, op den
zelfsten dagh, xjen Apr. geschieden kan. Ik vertrouw zoo vastelijk,
dat U. Eed. mij met deze vrundschap zal begunstighen, als U. Eed.
die, met alle die haar lief zijn, op 't hartlijkste gegroet zij, vertrou-
wen magh, dat altijds blijven zal,

Uwer Eed.
