De famille Kuyper was eene oude protestantsche famille in
Breda zeer gefortuneerd,woonden in een groot huis in de
brugstraat te B.Deze famille was in het bezit van de
pachthoeve de drie Schouwen gelegen achter Princenhage
welke door Prins Maurits geschonken was aan Adriaan van
Bergen Schipper van het turfschip van Breda en door erving
overgegaan was in de famille Kuyper.Naast de famille
Kuyper woonde de loodgieter en leidekker Verlegh[het huis
later bewoond door de goudsmit van Boxtel] wiens zoon
Wilhelmus Norbertus mijne grootmoeder Sandrina Mechteld
Kuyper verleide waardoor de famille Kuyper [de vader was
overleden] gedwongen werd het huwelijk toe te staan.Van
het geld zijner vrouw kocht W.N.Verlegh het groote huis in
de brugstraat en rigte
aldaar eene groote leerlooyery op,die met 20 en meer
knechts gewerkt heeft;Hij is in de Fransche tijd 1808 -
maire-adjoint van Breda geweest.
