Notes about Albert Honkoop

Albert woonde in 1718 in Oisterwijk en vertrok in 1720 naar Vlijmen.
Chirurgijn,schepen,kerkmeester en burgemeester te Vlijmen. Hij fungeert als schepen van 1722
tot 1733 (RA Vlijmen nr 20); in 1734 is hij diaken en in 1736 kerkmeester. Als collecteur laat hij in Heusden
in 1728 Andries van Gameren gijzelen, die kennelijk zijn betalingsverplichtingen ondanks
aanmaningen niet nakwam. Als chirurgijn had hij ook de medische zorg voor armen tegen
fl 20,- ´s jaars. In 1730 wordt hij beticht hierin zijn plicht te verzaken en wordt deze zorg
overgedragen aan de katholieke Dirck van der Leur. In 1734 weet ds. Benjamin Buijs
ondanks protest van de schout Thomas B de Bock de zorg weer in handen van Albert
Honcoop te krijgen, daar immers " ingevolge de Sinodale en andere Wetten geen Roomsche
off paapsche personen geene bedieninge mogen waarnemen". De schout steggelt voorts ook
met de dominee over de benoeming van arm- en kerkmeesters.
