Notes about Bastiaan STUURSTRAAT

Bastiaan Stuurstraat is in 1887 uit weeshuis Neerbosch naar 's-Gravendeel vertrokken. Vermoedelijk woonde hij bij zijn oom Arie Stuurstraat aan de Schenkeldijk in het oorspronkelijke huis van zijn ouders. Hier is Bastiaan niet lang gebleven, want op 27 augustus 1887 vertrok hij naar Amsterdam. In Neerbosch had bastiaan geleerd voor timmerman. In het huis aan de Schenkeldijk in 's-Gravendeel stond nog jarenlang een timmermanskist, waarvan gezegd werd dat die van Bastiaan was geweest.
Bastiaan Stuurstraat is later schoenmaker geworden en had een schoenmakerij aan de Goudsbloemstraat in Amsterdam.
Bastiaan is vermoedelijk laat getrouwd, want zijn eerste kind werd geboren toen hij al 47 jaar oud was.
