Notes about Joseph Pieter GOEDHART

GOEDHART (Joseph Pieter), geb. te Dubbeldam 8 Nov. 1822, overl. te Dordrecht 21 Febr. 1887, was de zoon van Bastiaan Goedhart en Cornelia de Wit. Hij begon onder de Schoolwet van 1806 te Dordrecht een bijzondere School, die later als de ‘School in de Munt’ gunstig bekend stond. In 1881 gaf hij die aan jongere krachten over. Voor de lichamelijke opvoeding der jeugd en de volksgezondheid interesseerde hij zich, stichtte te Dordrecht de eerste Gymnastiekschool op een van de gemeente in erfpacht verkregen terrein, voorts in 1852 een zweminrichting en in 1869 een badhuis. Voor het onderwijs schreef hij (met H. Tempelaar) Nieuw practisch Rekenboek, 5 stukjes (1849); Beknopte Geschiedenis en plaatselijke Beschrijving der stad Dordrecht, kl. 80. (1850); Vijfhonderd Nieuwe voorstellen ter toepassing der Hoofdregelen enz. (met H. Tempelaar), kl. 80. (1861); Proza en Poezij voor de verstgevorderde leerlingen eener lagere school, kl. 80. (1863). Verder gaf hij uit: Twee hoofdbeletselen, die er voor den onderwijzer kunnen bestaan in devorming der jeugd. Wenken voor ouders, kl. 80. (1853). Ook in tijdschriften verschenen artikelen van zijn hand. Hij was tweemalen gehuwd, eerst met Pieternella Johanna Verhoeven, daarna met Johanna Sels.
