Notes about Christiaan NIEUWENDORP

He immigrated in 1847 with his father and step-mother and siblings on the ship Nagasaki arriving in Baltimore 6/10/1847. He was part of a group of 4 ships and about 800 people immigrating with Dominie (Rev.) Hendrik Scholte. They migrated to Pella, Iowa. In 1870 he joined others in Pella and migrated to Orange City, Iowa, being one of the early 1870 Dutch pioneers of Sioux County, Iowa. His son, Hendrik, was the first baby born in the new colony. 1900 Census record shows they had 12 children.

His parents were Hendrik Nieuwendorp and Leijntje van Pelt. Lena d. 1 Feb 1842 in Dordrecht, Zuid-Holland. Hendrik married2 with Ida Bikkele on 1 May 1844 in Dordrecht.

Christiaan Nieuwendorp married Neeltje van der Meer in Marion Co, Iowa, on 11 May 1854 by Henry P. Scholte, J.P.
