Hendrik Giezen is de zoon van Anna Hornius en Gerardus Gijzen hij wordt op 15 januari 1789 in Wageningen gedoopt.[1] Hendrik gaat in dienst en behoort in 1809 tot een compagnie vrijwilligers vechten voor Napoleon. Hij werd in 1812 ingedeeld bij het 125e regiment der infanterie. Vrijwel iedereen van dit regiment komt om bij de slag aan de Berezina. In 1814 wordt hij als vermist opgegeven.
