Sur plusieurs sites internet, on trouve l'affirmation selon laquelle Marie Bourdon, fille de Jacques Bourdon et Marie Ménard, l'épouse du coureur de bois Jean Cadieux, soit une Algonquine. On la surmomme « Mewhatta » et certains l'associe au clan Pachirini.
Cette légende origine d'un poème d'Isabel Ecclestone Mackay, lui même inspiré de la « Légende de Jean Cadieux ».
