Aert was landbouwer te Pendrecht, heemraad van West Barendrecht en Carnisse en schepen van Pendrecht 1585-1586, 1593-1594 en 1597. Hij werd, evenals zijn echtgenote, begraven in de kerk te Barendrecht onder een zerk met het volgende opschrift: "Hier leyt begraven Aert Basteanss SPRVYT in syn leve heemeraet tot West Barendrecht en Carnis hy sterff den XIIII st. Mey 1625 met zyn hvysvrov Tventge SYMENSDOCHTER sy sterff en XXV st. Mey 1624". Het wapen is uitgekapt.
