Op Vrijdag 17 Oktober 1927 rond het middag uur brak er brand uit bij Arie en Sijgje,volgens mondelingen bron is de brand uitgebroken tijdens het eten koken. Het huis met de schuur, staande aan de Schenkeldijk te Zuid-Beijerland die van hout was en waar hooi inlag brandde snel in zijn geheel af, er kon weinig van waarde gered worden, maar er waren geen slachtoffers ook kwamen er geen dieren om. Het huis en de inboedel waren laag verzekerd en de schade voor het gezin was dus erg groot. Na de brand werd het huis met de schuur weer opnieuw opgebouwd voor een bedrag van ongeveer f 4000,00. Het huis met de schuur werd nu geheel van steen opgebouwd. Er konden toen acht koeien op stal staan. Later werd er nog een houten paardenstal bijgebouwd. Uit het register der nieuwe-veranderde-of gesloopte gebouwen bleek dat de vergunning voor de herbouw werd afgegeven d.d 3-2-1928.
