a     J. was een broer van de vorige en de vader van de volgende. J. x met Sibille van
Ligne. Sibille was een zus van Jan iv* en dochter van Michel heer van Barbencon.
c    In november 1477 trad J. als raadslid-kamerheer toe tot de hofhouding van Maxi-
miliaan.
g In 1476 nam J. deel aan de slag bij Granson. In 1479 streed J. ook bij Guinegatte.
J. was sinds 1479 kapitein van het kasteel van Aat. In deze functie voerde in 1480
het bevel over 600 infanteristen.
j      In 1480 sprak J. een vergadering van de Drie Leden van Vlaanderen toe. Hij hoop-
te de Leden ervan te overtuigen meer geld voor de landsverdediging ter beschik-
king te stellen. J. nam in 1482 namens de Henegouwse edellieden deel aan de
Gentse zitting van de Staten-Generaal.
k     J. was een partijganger van de eersie Vlaamse regentschapsraad (i483-'85). Daar-
om verbruide hij het bij Maximiliaan. In 1485 verbleef J. te Gent. Hij ontving er de
Franse legeraanvoerder Filips van Crevecoeur*.
1      J. verloor in 1475 een proces in beroep voor het Parlement van Mechelen.
