John Curd (1726-85) was captain of a company of militia from Goochland Co., Virginia., where he was born.
He died in Garrard Co., Kentucky.
All of the children of John and Lucy Curd are recorded in the Douglas Register except the youngest son, who was possibly born in Kentucky. The proof of his belonging to this family is found in Mercer Co., Kentucky Court Records when a suit in Chancery was filed by Adam Fisher, 2/5/1800 against the heirs of John Curd, dec'd, this youngest son was named in the summons issued by the Court.
In the Curd Genealogy, by Fuller and Curd, it is stated that John was a private, but this service is mistaken with that of the son, John. John is recognized by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution as having served as a Major in the Rev. War.
