Sir George BARNE signed a will on 15 Feb 1558. He died on 18 Feb 1558 in London, England. He had an estate probated on 21 Mar 1558. He was buried in St. Bartholomew-the-Less near the Exchange. Like his father a haberdasher. Also sheriff of London 1545-1546, lord mayor of London 1552, was knighted at Whitehall 11 April 1553. said to be a merchant adventurer to Barbary, Russia, and Genoa, principal doer in sending Sir Willoughby to the northeast in 1553, one of the first four consuls of the Merchant Adventurers 6 Feb 1553.
