Uitdrukkelijk werd hem door de Staten van Holland verboden zich Graaf van Holland te noemen. (1678)

Bij de invasie van 1672 is Vianen neutraal. De molens bij Sluis worden door de Fransen op
26-11-1672 in brand gestoken. De polders staan tot eind 1673 onder water.

Wolphart van Brederode, word geboren 13 November 1649. Hij werd, nog geen 6 jaar oud zijnde, door do Staten van Holland beschonken met aone compagnie *29 Sept. 1665; was leenvolger zijns broeders 16 Deo. 1657; doet eed als ritmeester 1666; ritmeester over eene com-pagnie ruiters op Holland 1668; aaiigcsteld tot kolonel over eeu regiment paarden ten dienste der Vereenigde Nedorlandon 8 Febr. 1674; geadmitteerd als Proost van Oud-Munster te Utrecht '22 Juni 1674 en hem wordt door de Staten van Holland verboden zich te noemen Graaf van Holland en Souverein van Vinnen en Ameido lö Februari 1678. Hij is ongehuwd overleden 19 Juni 1679 en werd als laatst wettig mansoir van het edele huis Brederode deu '21 Juli d. a. v. te Vianen begraven. 43ij deze begrafenis werd het volle wapen van Brede-rode verbroken en mede ten grave gelegd „opdat nie-mand te oeniger tijd zich deze wapenen, naam of ge-slacht aanmatige, toooigono ot reclarnoere." Dit allea geschiedde in het bijzij a en ten aanhoore van alle col- legios van de regcoring van het land van Vianen en ook van Frederitc Lodewijk van Brederode, heere van Bolswaard, Drossaard van Ameide en Tienhoven, die een der slippen van het rouwkleed gedragen had.
