Philippe, 3eme comte de LALAING, baron d’Escornaix, seigneur de Waurin ou Wavrin, gouverneur de Valenciennes, général de l’infanterie des Etats en 1577 et 1578, conseiller d’état aux Pays-Bas en 1580, gouverneur et grand bailli de Hainaut de 1574 à 1582. Il meurt à Valenciennes, le 14 mai 1582.
Il était le fils de Charles II de LALAING et de Marguerite de CROY, la première épouse de Charles II; il avait épousé Marguerite de LIGNE dite d’AREMBERG, fille aînée de Jean de LIGNE, prince d’Aremberg et du Saint-Empire, baron de Barbançon.
