Jochem Schoonmaker (1712-1751), son of Hendrick and Heyltie (Decker) Schoonmaker, married, about 1736, to Rachel Van Gordon, bapt. 19 May 1717, dau of Pieter and Margriet (Decker) Van Gordon. They had seven children: Abraham, Isaac m. Elizabeth Brink; Elizabeth; Elizabeth; Jacob Schoonmaker m. Catherine Schoonmaker; Petrus Schoonmaker (aka Peter DeCoursey), bpt. 1749, m. Magdalena Van Aken, dau. of David and Magdalena (Schoonmaker) Van Aken; and Helena. Jochem Schoonmaker died about 1751; and his widow, Rachel Van Garden married in 1752 at Smithfield, Penna. to Dennis Reeser (alias Teunis Corsa or Dennis DeCoursey). Some of Rachel Van Garden's children by her first marriage, including Petrus bpt. 1749, took the DeCoursey surname of their step-father.
