ALICE LOUISE McCLARY MONTANYE
Mayfield --  Alice Louise McClary Montanye, 94, formerly of School Street, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home in Gloversville, where she had been a resident for the past few months.
She was born in Mayfield on January 12, 1908, to the late Alexander and Mabel Ferguson McClary.  Alice was a lifelong resident of the village of Mayfield on School Street.  She worked for the Wilkins Glove Company and retired from the Alvord Glove Company in 1967 after a total of more than 40 years.  She was married on April 20, 1930 to Charles Ralph Montanye.  Ralph died on May 16, 1987.  They enjoyed 57 years of married life.
Alice was a member of Mayfield United Methodist Church and its Bykota Women's Circle. She was an active member of the Bannertown 50 Plus Senior Citizens Center for many years.  She had also regularly attended the group that meets daily at the church for lunch.  She sewed with the quilting group and helped to work on many church dinners and projects.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marygene Brunner and her husband Otto Brunner of Schenectady, and Judith Smith and her husband Douglas Smith of Green Lake.  She was the beloved grandmother of five grandchildren: Robert Brunner, Ralph Brunner, John Brunner, Jeffrey Smith, and Christianne Wilson.  She had a greatgranddaughter, Allison Brunner, and a greatgrandson, John Robert Brunner. ; She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Alice was predeceased by her two brothers; Leon McClary and Daniel McClary.
The family will received relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Inc., 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.  A funeral service and celebration of her well-lived life will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Mayfield United Methodist Church, School Street, Mayfield, with the Rev. David C. Newkirk, Pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow at Union Rural Cemetery, School Street, Mayfield.
Flowers are welcome.  However, those desiring may make memorial donations in Alice's memory to the Mayfield United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 203, Mayfield, NY 12117.
