    Major Frederick H. Dale Major Frederick H. Dale USMC, Ret.
    Marine Major Dale, 91, of Charlotte, died 9 February 2009. Born 3 November 1917 in Albany, NY to the late Frederick Sheldon Dale, Jr. and Mildred Cinderella Hunter Dale. Mr. Dale spent his youth in Esperance, NY with his mother and step father, William Montanye.
    Major Dale was predeceased by his wife of sixty one years, Olga Jessen Dale.
    Mr. Dale was a 1936 graduate of Cobleskill, NY High School and a 1941 graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY.
    Mr. Dale enlisted in the Marine Corps in February 1942 and participated in both the Guadalcanal and Bougainville campaigns followed by a tour of duty in Japan as part of the marine occupation force. Following WWII, Mr. Dale served briefly in Korea during that conflict and later an extended tour of duty in Vietnam. During his marine career Major Dale did tours of duty in Washington, DC; San Diego, CA; Paris Island, SC; Camp Lejuene, NC; Cherry Point, NC and Philadelphia, PA. Major Dale retired from the Marine Corps in 1971. After retirement, he and his wife Olga divided their time between homes in Newberry, SC and Emerald Isle, NC. Major Dale was a member of the Lutheran Faith.
    He is survived by his sons, Thomas Hunter Dale (Donna) of Orlando, FL, William Jessen Dale of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Suzie Delong (Paul); grandsons, John Hunter Dale and Stephen Andrew Dale of Charlotte, NC; and great grandson, Andrew Emiliozzi of St. Louis, MO.
    A funeral service with military honors will be held on Friday, February 13th at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 4519 Providence Rd, Charlotte. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Esperance Cemetery, Esperance, NY.

    Announcement has been made of the marriage of Olga Jessen, S 1/C, U.S. Coast Guard Women's Reserve, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Jessen, White Bear Lake, Mich., to Marine Corp. Frederick Hunter Dale, son of Mrs. William Montayne of Esperance. The ceremony was held Feb. 25 in the navy chapel, Anacostia, Md., with the navy chaplain, Herbert M. Palyne, officiating.
    The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Emma Jessen, as maid of honor.  Corp David  Rl near, USMC, was best man. The couple will make their home at Washing-]

    Mrs. Dale has two brothers in the armed forces, Pfc. Harold Jessen, TJ.S. army, somewhere In the south Pacific and Sgt. Edwin' Jessen, US. army, stationed at Camp White, Ore.
