Notes about Aris Bogart

Stanton Street Baptist Church (New York, N.Y.) - 1860 - History - 220 pages

Both Aris and Sarah A. Bogart are listed as reception into the church by baptism,  April 30, 1842.  He has an end date of association with the church of Nov. 30, 1859, not by death, not by letter, but of no stated reason, she has none listed as of publication in 1860.

From David Bogart,
I have concluded my research into my Bogart direct line and written my results for the remaining family. You might be interested in two of the findings. As you may recall, I was hung up on and searching with Leslie Brooks for the parents of my great great grandfather James Zimmerman Bogart b.1821. Two letters I have, led me Ares Abraham Bogart b.1753 for the letter writers and others, but provided no clear connection for me. I subsequently concluded, based on circumstantial evidence, that the father of James Z. was the first son of Ares Abraham, Abraham Bogart b.1776 who married Sarah Brooks b.1781 in 1798. As I was writing my final draft, quite by accident, I found some verification of this in the Blauvelt Family History, compiled by Louis Blauvelt for the Association of Blauvelt Descendants. I will spare you the details but here are the two results that may be of interest to you. First, is the conclusion that Abraham Bogart and Sarah Brooks are the parents of James Z. Bogart. For your information, it was James Z.'s son James Henry b.1843 that had married into the Blauvelt family. So Abraham Bogart b.1776 is my 3rd great grandfather and Ares Abraham Bogart is my 4th great grandfather. The second finding may be more relevant to your De La Montagne research. One of the letters I have is from Vincent D. Bogart to my grand aunt Mary Adelia. In it he identifies his grandfather as her great great grandfather, in those terms. Since I have now identified Mary Adelia's great great grandfather as Ares Abraham Bogart, that means that Vincent D.'s grandfather was also Ares Abraham. We know that Vincent D.'s father was Aris Bogart b.1802 who married Sarah Ann de la Montagne, so we now know that Aris' father was Ares Abraham, son of Abraham Bogart b.1723. So, finally, both of our mysteries are resolved. Of course, that is based on my research.
