Notes about Francis R. Gonder

Civil War veteran.  He was 5' 8" tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. While in service, he got dysentery which he had the rest of his life. He also had a pain in the neck and head, neuralogic form, which affected his eyes. ; He was nearly blind at times.  Before the Civil War he was a farmer.  On his return he was disabled and only able to do light work.

Ill, Nov 16, 1864. Born in Ohio, age 34 and occupation Farmer. Drafted
Oct 4, 1864 in Mt. Sterling for a period of 1 year. Eyes blue, hair brown,
complexion fair and heigth 5 ft 8 1/2 inches. Mustered in Oct 4, 1864 in
Mt Sterling. No bounty paid. Remarks. Residence: Joshua, Ill, 9 Dist.,
67 Sub Dist.
