Notes about Mary Gano

This stampless letter has a circular date stamp for DANVILLE Ky, a handwritten rate which I can't decipher, and is addressed to Mrs. Mary Gano, care of James Slaughter, Louisville, Ky, and is a two page 'Dear Mother' letter written by Mary G. Burnett. The headline is Sept 19th, 1844 Danville.

Some extracts:

"I wrote to sister Slaughter under the supposision that you returned to Cincinnati some time ago. My dear sick husband is still improving a little evry day. Oh! Ma you have no idea how sick he was when I arrived here ..."

"Mr. Burnet has been sitting up for several days lieing down occasionally he is very much reduced indeed. We will not start before the last of next week if then."

"The doctors advise him to go by the way of the blue licks for the benefit of the waters. I have just this minuet opened bro G Slaughter's letter. I was surprised to find you were still in Louisville."

"... but Cornelia will be spoiled and Mary utterly ruined I fear. Do not let bro George talk about beaus to Cornelia any mmore."

A bunch more writing. Condition of the letter rates average, good on the pages of writing, some tears / separations which were mended with archival tape, tear opposite the seal area, folds (blank) adjacent to front cover (to the far side) are gone on the second side of the folded letterseet (away from the writing). As usual with stampless letters, after writing on one or more sides of a sheet of paper, the letter was folded several times and mailed. An interesting letter good for genealogy and history research.
