At first this Jesse Montayne SEEMED the most likely match for Jesse Mantonya who appeared in Henry County in 1871. However, in the census of 1860, this Jesse of Wyandot County, Ohio, was not listed with the household and, even more telling, the family name was now spelled as MONTAGUE. The conclusion at this point must be that this Jesse died young and the family probably doesn't belong to the descendants of Dr. Jean Mousnier de la Montagne, whereas we know from DNA testing that descendants of Jesse Mantonya of Henry County, Missouri, are indeed descendants of Dr. Jean Mousnier de la Montagne.
