Notes about George van EMBURGH

George served as a private inCo. K of the 1st NJ Foot Militia.  He mustered in on April 30,1861, served a three month term, and was dischared along with the rest of his unit on July 31, 1861.  He later mustered into Co. B 2nd NJ Volunteers on Feb. 26, 1862.  He seved as a Private in Co. B until Feb. 27, 1864 (His unit was at Gettsburg! July 3, 4, 1863)  On that date, he voluntatrily re-enlisted and was transfered to Co. A 15th NJ Volunteers on May 29, 1864  He was discharged on June 11, 1865
