From Annual Obituary Notices of Eminent Persons Who Have Died in the United States (1857-1858)REV. PETER P. SANDFORD, D.D., Tarrytown, N. Y., Jan. 14, a?. 75. Dr. S. "was born," quoting his own language, in the town of New Barbadoes, (now Lodi,) Bergen Co., N. J., Feb. 28, 1781. "My ancestors had resided in the place of my birth for several generations. ... My mother's maiden name was Eleanor Turner. Her father was for several years sheriff of Bergen Co.; and her maternal grandmother was a Sandford, descended from the same ancestry with ourselves. They had eleven children, ten of whom, seven sons and three daughters, lived to be fathers and mothers.
