    Theodore "Ted" M. Montanye
    Tonasket --  Theodore "Ted" M. Montanye, 65, of Tonasket, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 1995, in Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, following a long battle with cancer.
    He was born Oct. 28, 1930, to Keith and Violet Montanye at Golderdale.  He moved with his parents to the Aeneas Valley near Tonasket in 1935.  They owned and operated a cattle ranch, where he grew up.  He attended the Aeneas Valley School and continued his education at Spangle for one year.  Following the retirement of his father, he continued to operate the family ranch.  He also worked in the logging industry for several years.
    He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1954 during the Korean Conflict.  He returned to the Aeneas Valley following his honorable discharge and continued ranching until his death.
    He married Florence Schoonover on May 11, 1955, at Coeur D'Alene, Idaho.
    Mr. Montanye was a member of the Washington State Cattlemen's Association and served as treasurer for several years.  He received an award from the organization for recruiting the most memberships during a given time.  He was also a member of the Tonasket American Legion and the Tonasket Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
    Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Ken and Dale, both of Tonasket; a daughter, Frances Lisenby of Omak; one brother, Mike of Goldendale; two sisters, Verona Schnibbe of Brewster and Virginia Edin of Arlington; and four grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
    Arrangements are by Bergh Funeral Service, Tonasket.
