Notes about Ella Hamilton

What is fascinating about Ella Hamilton Van Liew is the way her age changes with every census.  Judging from the census of 1860, her birthdate should be 27 Jan 1856, but that would make her older than her spouse.  By the census of 1930, she claims to be 45 years old, which is actually the age of her daughter, and thus almost thirty years younger than her real age and thirty years younger than her husband.  Hmmm.
Evidently, women of the leisure class had to work hard to appear young!
