Jeanne d'Harcourt [Parents ] est née en 1372. Elle est décédée le 16 février 1456 à Béthune. Jeanne a épousé Guillaume II de Namur (Dampierre) Marquis de Namur en 1393.
En 1421, désargenté et couvert de dettes, Jean III vend le comté de Namur à Philippe le Bon, duc de Bourgogne qui en prend possession huit ans plus tard. Jeanne d'Harcourt, la veuve de Guillaume II, avant-dernier représentant à Namur de la famille des Dampierre, est toutefois reconnue dans ses droits sur la terre de Montaigle jusqu'à sa mort survenue à Béthune.
A la mort de Jeanne d'Harcourt, en 1455, la terre de Montaigle, nous l'avons noté, est entrée dans les possessions de la Maison de Bourgogne, comme l'avait déjà fait le reste du comté de Namur dès 1429. Le château n'est alors plus qu'une modeste forteresse confinée dans son rôle de chef-lieu de bailliage et gardée par une vingtaine d'hommes en armes.
