Notes about Marcus W. Hare

Glasco Sun (Kansas), Jan. 17, 1891, page 1:
Mark Hare, Jr., met with quite a serious accident last Sunday.  He had a revolver in his right hand pants pocket and was carrying it at half cock, when somehow the hammer got pulled back and it went off, the bullet struck him in the leg, ploughing down through the flesh along the bone, stopping near the knee from where it was extracted.

(Note: this happened when Mark was about 15 years old - in 1903 Mark was killed by his brother-in-law James Head)

[Mark Hare seems to have been called Jr. because he had an uncle Mark Hare living in the same locality.  His father was not named Mark or Marcus.]
