Heer Claes II van Borselen, heer van Brigdamme, enz., in de stukken heren Aelbrechts zoon genoemd.
Hij was een rijk grondbezitter op het eiland Walcheren, waar o.m. Brigdamme, Zoutelande, St. Laurens en Coudekerke hem toebehoorden; hij woonde in zijn huis te Middelburg en op het kasteel S . Laurens, doch breidde zijn bezit nog uit door koop te Popkensburg en op Borselen, door inpolderingen te Hongersdjk (over deze inpoldering bij Wolfaartsdijk gelegen, zie: J. van der Baan, Wolfaartsdijk),, uitg. Goes 1866, blz. 20), door koop van het gehele eiland Duiveland in 1392 Reygersberg II, blz. 173-174). In het jaar 1390 maakte hertog Aelbrecht zijn lenen onversterfelijk (F. van Mieris III, blz. 516); in 1396 was hij raad van den hertog (F. van Mieris III, blz.637 en 643).
Heer Claes overleed 18 Maart 1412 (n. s.) en werd bij zijn voorouders in het Tertianenklooster te Middelburg begraven, op het koor voor het hoogaltaar, waar reeds zijn echtgenoote rustte (Reygersberg II, blz. 181).
Hij huwde (voorw. 1387) (F. van Mieris III, blz. 474) jkvr. Marie van Arnemuden, waarschijnlijk dochter van heer Gilles; beide echtelieden droegen in 1401 aan Willem, zoon van Holland, goederen in Popkensburg en Brigdamme ter leen op en gaven deze goederen aan hun zoon Claes te erven, met voorwaarde dat bij diens ontstentenis hun tweede zoon Gilles de erfgenaam zou zijn (F. van Mieris II, blz. 750). Echtgenote Marie overleed 12 mei 1402 en schonk haar man vier kinderen.
