Ancestral Lines: Dr. John Anthony, born 1585, died in London in 1655. His
wife's name has not been found. Educated at Pembroke College, completing an
M.B. in 1613 and the M.D. in 1619. Admitted as a Licentiate of the College of
Physcians of London in 1625, he served in the Civil War on the Parliamentary
side as surgeon to Colonel Sandys. His notes are in the British Museum
(Sloane MS 489). He wrote a devotional work, "The Comfort of the Soul," in
1654.
Chas. Anthony: John Anthony, born 1585. Graduated from Pembroke College
with an M.B. in 1613 and an M.D. in 1619. Licensed by the College of Physicians
of London in 1625. Served as surgeon to Colonel Sandys in the Civil War on the
parliamentary side. More detail on pages 20 and 21.
Henderson: John Anthony, born 1585; died 1656. Graduated from Pembroke
College, M.B., 1613; M.D, 1619. Served in the Civil War on the Parliamentary
side as surgeon to Colonel Sandaye.

1655 in London. Wife, not named, born about 1583.
NEHGR:Named in the will of Richard Arnold, citizen and goldsmith of London,
dated 8 Nov. 1644 and proved 28 Nov. 1644. "To my loving master John Anthony,
Doctor in Physicke, a silver can of which I entreat his acceptance. To Samuel
and John, the sons of my said master, unto each of them a silver wine-taster,
and Mary, Elizabeth and Rebecca, the daughters of my said master, unto to every
of them an enamelledgoldring to wear in my remembrance."
