In the traditional pedigrees of the Boynton family, William Boynton is said to have married "Jane daughter of Simon Harding." It appears however, that he married Elizabeth, daughter of Sampson Harding, of Beadnell, Northumberland, who was M.P. for both Newcastle and Northumberland eleven times between 1382 and 1421.
