!  Birth: (1) 3 Nov 1832. (1,2) Powhatan, King George Co., VA. (1,2) s/o Edward Thornton Tayl oe/Mary Ogle. (2) The eldest child.
  Marriage to Louisa Cornelia Carr: (1) 23 Apr 1857. She d/o Caldwell Carr of Upperville, Fau quier Co., VA.
  Death: (1) 26 Apr 1888 following a paralytic stroke 3 days earlier.
  Burial: (1) Buried beside his wife at Yeocomico, Westmoreland Co., VA.

  (1) 1848, 20 Nov: Entered the VA Military Institute at age 16.
  (1) 1851, 4 Jul: Graduated from VA Military Institute 8th in a class of 29. (2) A graduat e of Virginia Military Institute.
  (2) His father gave him the "Lothian" estate, which had been left to him by Col. John Taylo e.
  (1) Began farming at "Lothian," King George Co., VA.
  (1,2) 1861, May: (1) Entered the Confederate Army. His first duties consisted of troop trai ning in the Dumfries-Occoquan area. (2) Went off to command the 22nd VA Battalion, fighting u nder Gen. Robert E. Lee at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville.
  (1) 1862, Apr: Promoted to Major and detailed to the 47th VA Infantry then based at Yorktow n.
  (1) 1862, Nov: Promoted to Lt. Col. and given command of the 22 VA Battalion of the First B rigade of A.P. Hill's Light Division, Army of Northern VA.
  (1) Fought throughout the Civil War in most of the battles fought by the Army of Northern V A. Was frequently mentioned in the dispatches.
  (1) 1864, 10 May: Was slightly wounded.
  (1) 1865, 6 Apr: Was captured at Sayler's Creek, the last engagement of the Army of Norther n VA, while trying to induce a Federal officer to surrender. This was 3 days before the surre nder at Appomatox.
  (1) During the war, had converted all his property into Confederate paper. His contemporari es credited him with courage and good humor despite the loss of his property.
  (1) 1888, 23 Apr: Had a paralytic stroke while writing on his wedding anniversary. He die d 3 days later.
