Beseglede 1469 privatforbundet i Kiel og kaldes da Detlev van Buchwald Detleuesson, ligeledes i 1470 da han beseglede stadsfæstelsen på ditmarskernes privilegier, skrives samme å r  "til Borstel" og mæglede da i en trætte mellem Eler Mistorp og Reinfeld kloster.


Kaldes 1474 Detlev van Buchwald, der jüngere. Beseglede 1486 med Detlev von Buchwald til Hasselburg , i 1488 sammen med sin fætter Hans von Buchwald til Ekelstorf. Var 1490 med sin broder Jasper Detleusson forlover for Henning Pogwisch Henningsen og ligeledes med begge sine brødre 1491 for samme og 1495 sammen med sin broder hr. Johan forlover for hr. Hans Ahlefeldt.


Faldt i slaget ved Hemmingstedt i Ditmarsken.
