[Plantagenet Ancestry]
Note: No source that I have yet seen gives an ancestry for John.
---
I originally had John as son of Roger Lewknor, d. 1400/1, which would have made him b. by 1402 and aged at least 69 (probably more) when he died in battle at Tewkesbury (pretty old for a warrior). The Susex Arch. Collections does indicate that Roger had a son John. However Rosie Bevan of SGM has shown that Thomas Lewknor, son of Roger inherited Goring through his grandmother Joan d'Oyly, which became Thomas' principle residence; therefore it indicates that John was probably a son of Thomas of Goring, which would allow him to be born much later, say 1425. An age of mid-40s would be much more appropriate for a man who was killed in battle.
