Notes about James de Audley 2nd Lord

Per Cockayne's "Complete Peerage" (Audley, p.339) : Age d 3 at his father's death, and 14 in 1326, at the death o f his maternal uncle, William Martin, to whose vast estate s in cos. Pembroke and Devon he was co-heir, and eventuall y (by the death in 1343, of his mother's sister, Eleanor, w idow of Philip, Lord Columbers) sole heir, and then would a pparently have been entitled to any Peerage which his afsd . uncle may be held to have possessed. He had seisin, thoug h not of age, 25 may 1329. Though still a minor, 21 Mar 133 3/34, he was sum. to Parl. as early as 25 Jan 1329/30 to (s ic ?!) 8 Aug 1386. An order for his arrest issued on 28 Ju l 1348 because he had not attended the King and Council whe n summoned. He had exemption for life from attending Parl . 20 Apr 1353.

He m. (1) JOAN, dau. of ROGER MORTIMER, 1st EARL OF MARCH , who had been his guardian. He m. (2) Isdabel, said to hav e been dau. of Roger, 5th Baron Strange of Knokyn
James and JOAN had a son, Nicholas, who was the heir, but d .s.p. 1391. The barony of Audley was in abeyance from 139 1 until 1405, when the great grandson of James and JOAN, JO HN TUCHET (RIN 680), was recognized as the rightful heir.
