Ook Edzard Rengers speelde een belangrijke rol onder de Ommelander hoofdelingen, o.a. was hij een van de opstellers van het concept Ommelander landrecht van 1550. Ook behoorde hij tot de groep Ommelanders die in 1577 door de stad gevangen gezet werden. Zijn zoon Johan Rengers van ten Post (1542-1626) is de bekende kroniekschrijver.
