1.  Peleg was Selectman of Stonington, Connecticut for a number of years; Town Clerk December 2, 1781; Representative in the General Assembly 1778; was on of the directors of the Lottery scheme chartered by the General Court to build the first meeting house in Stonington Borough; signer of the Petition of 1776, Revolutionary War (public service qualification for Patriot); graduate of Yale College 1755; in 1788 he removed to Wapins Creek, near Poughkeepsie, New York.
