Maréchal de l'armée de Louis VIII durant la croisade contre les albigeois.
Au traité de Paris en 1229, il reçoit la seigneurerie de Mirepoix (voir aussi le château de Lagarde), entérinant ainsi la situation mise en oeuvre par Simon de Montfort en 1209.
