Notes about Hugo REPELAER

Hugo Repelaer (1556 - 1622) huwde in 1588, nog niet gereformeerd, een dochter van een secretaris van de stad, Jan Gerritsz. Brouwer, eigenaar van de aloude brouwerij 'De sleutel' aan de Varkenmarkt. Deze brouwerij is hierna vier generaties lang in de familie gebleven. De erfgenamen van Hugo Repelaer (1655 - 1713), onder andere gedeputeerde naar de Staten van Holland, hebben haar in 1727 verkocht. De Repelaers hebben in de loop der eeuwen talloze belangrijke posten bekleed in het stadsbestuur, de sociale instellingen in Dordrecht, de waterschappen in de omgeving, de Staten van Holland en tenslotte in de Staten-Generaal. Als bekroning werd Johan Repelaer (1760 - 1835), onder andere lid van de Tweede Kamer van 1815 - 1829, bij Koninklijk besluit van 24 november 1816 in de Nederlandse adelstand verheven.
